We believe in developing a well-educated child and provide opportunities in all year groups to ensure that children are school-ready, work-ready and life-ready. We provide a challenging, language rich, investigative 21st century skills and knowledge based curriculum. It captures the imagination of our children, stimulates their natural curiosity and creates a love of learning that is life long. Teachers and children choose engaging learning challenges that develop key knowledge and skills linked to National Curriculum. Visits, visitors and hooks for learning are an integral part of this.
All our children are actively involved in learning that goes beyond the classroom. Forest School, outdoor learning, sport, the arts and The Oldham Passport to Success empower our children to take risks, be respectful and responsible, develop empathy, make informed choices and importantly develop healthy bodies and minds.
In Y4 all children are taught to play the violin by a strings specialist. In Y3 children a receive a 30 minute swimming lesson each week. We also timetable RE and PSHE each week giving them equal status to other ‘foundation’ subjects. PE is taught by classteachers, a sports coach and dance specialists; All children receive two, 45 minute sessions per week and undertake a 15 minute daily additional active session.
Please go to the year-group pages under ‘Classes’ to find detailed information about the curriculum in each year group and an overview of the current Learning Challenge topic that the children are working on.
